Today I want to show another excellent location in New York for everyone looking to take amazing photos for Instagram. Let's talk a little about THE OCULUS, this building is huge, really beautiful and a perfect place to play with the perspective in your photographs. The ceiling steals all the attention due to its unique shape and how it allows the light to illuminate the interior of the building spectacularly.
Can you believe that this impressive place is a shopping mall, a train station with many train lines, and an award-winning architectural structure?
Designed by Santiago Calatrava and located next to the One World Observatory and the 9/11 Memorial, this place can be reached by taking almost every train line in NYC.
The Oculus is considered to be a shopping mall which is connected to the WTC (World Trade Center) transportation hub on Church St, New York, NY 10006. Many train lines have a stop for the WTC hub or nearby. So here's a small map I made for you to know which train to take and how close to the Oculus the train station will be.
This is a really busy building, people are always walking from one side to the other one trying to catch their train, see the building itself, take photos, buy products from the stores, etc and it gets almost impossible to avoid the crowds, especially if you want to take great pictures without people photobombing you.
I highly recommend you to wake up really early or visit The Oculus really late at night if you want to take multiple shots. If you visit the station/mall at regular hours you can probably take a great photo as well, but you might have to wait for your turn, take photos quickly while people around you rush or interrupt your shot, and stay at the same spot waiting for the right opportunity to achieve what you want.
Best Essential Shots: Day/Night Options
1. Balcony shot: Positioning yourself on the right spot at one of the balconies showing the ceiling in the background.
2. Outside shot of the building taken from a low angle showing the roof's "spikes."
3. Inside The Oculus shot: taken at the ground level of the mall and showing the ceiling from a low-to-high angle.

Hoy quiero mostrar otra excelente ubicación en Nueva York para todos los que buscan tomar increíbles fotos para Instagram. Hablemos un poco del OCULUS, el edificio de Oculus es enorme, realmente hermoso y un lugar perfecto para jugar con la perspectiva en tus fotografías . El techo roba toda la atención debido a su forma única y el tipo de techo permite que la luz ilumine el interior del edificio espectacularmente.
¿Puedes creer que este impresionante lugar es un centro comercial, una estación de tren con muchas líneas de tren y una estructura arquitectónica premiada?
Diseñado por Santiago Calatrava y ubicado junto al One World Observatory y el Memorial del 9/11, se puede llegar a este lugar tomando casi todas las líneas de tren de Nueva York. Le recomiendo que se levanten muy temprano o visiten el Oculus muy tarde en la noche si desean tomar varias fotografías. Si visitas la estación / centro comercial en horas regulares, probablemente también puedas tomar una buena foto, pero es posible que tengas que esperar a un largo turno, tomar fotos rápidamente mientras las personas a tu alrededor te apresuran o interrumpen tu toma, tambien tendrias que quedarte en el mismo lugar esperando la oportunidad correcta para lograr lo que quieres.
Las opciones para las mejores tomas: opciones de día / noche
1. Fotografía desde el balcón: Ubicándose en el lugar correcto en uno de los balcones mostrando el techo en el fondo.
2. Toma exterior del edificio desde un ángulo bajo mostrando los "picos" del techo de esta estructura.
3. Toma dentro del Oculus: Tomada a nivel de suelo del centro comercial y mostrando el techo desde un ángulo bajo a alto.
